About Western Springs VFW Post 10778

Our mission is to serve our fellow Veterans, their families and the communities where we live.  We achieve this continuing and evolving goal by inviting our fellow Veterans who have been awarded a campaign medal to become members of the 10778 family.

Through the ideals of service, we visit hospitalized Veterans, support the Fisher House, support various State of Illinois Veteran Homes, the VFW National Home for Children, homeless Veteran shelters, and tend to the needs of Veterans and or their families who may be in need.

We value the educational goals of the local school districts and offer two essay scholarship opportunities each year: Voice of Democracy which is open to all high school students and Patriot's Pen which is open to all 6th-8th grade students.  We support the Lyons Township High School's Model United Nations Club, we visit schools during Veterans Day Ceremonies and give special invitations to High School Seniors to participate in our annual Memorial Day Observance as guest speakers.  All funds raised from our Post are returned to Veterans in need.  All of our efforts are volunteer.
